A CATALOGUE of illness, injury and unavailability cost Eastleigh dear as they were well beaten by a keen Tottonians II 42-5.
The young Totts side, boosted by the likes of former first team full-back Wayne Tonkins, were too strong for the weakened Eastleigh outfit, who were also crippled by the absence of number eight Adie Luff, who was caught in a traffic jam north of Newbury.
Tony Sellwood scored the visitors' only try with a neat effort but Totts, using their possession well, scored six tries in the comfortable victory.
Millbrook were desperately poor in their 31-0 mauling by their near rivals Southampton II but they were not at full strength and were loaned a hooker before the match, such was their plight.
Saints winger Julian Robins, returning to action after a period out of the game, scored one of the tries but it was a disappointing day for the visitors.
Paxton Pumas, riding high in Hampshire 3, were upset not to have done better against a well drilled Havant III in losing 35-14.
They allowed the Hooks Lane outfit too much possession and from this their fly-half and inside centre directed play, causing the Pumas problems throughout.
However, they did not collapse and scored two good tries either side of half-time.
