BRITISH Olympic squad member Robert Tobin and double decathlon world champion Andy Waddington were among the successful athletes recognised at Basingstoke and Mid-Hants AC's annual awards night.

Tobin, who broke the club 400 metres record several times this summer, took home the senior men's award and also the Colin Robinson Trophy for the leading sprinter, being unrivalled over distances from 100m to 400m.

Waddington was the top male veteran.

Other award winners and their noted achievements were:-

Under-13 girls, track: Amber de Redenott, the club championships winner.

Under-13 girls, field: Emma Hay, a winner at the club open meet and a promising young athlete who was third in the club championships.

Under-13 boys, track: Andrew Clement, a fine all-rounder and the winner of a number of events including the club open and club championships.

Under-13 boys, field: Jack Graham, who is making good progress in a range of events.

Under-15 girls, track: Lucy Bates, who was second in the Hampshire Schools championships and second in the club championships.

Under-15 girls, field: Laura Wright, another good all-rounder who was second in the club open long-jump and a winner in the club championships.

Under-15 boys, track: Duncan Stevenson, a Hampshire champion and a double winner at the club open who has achieved success on the track and in cross-country events.

Under-15 boys, field: Sam Sleap, a good all-rounder who has achieved success in the pole-vault, where he is the new under-15 club record holder.

Under-17 women, track: Rebecca Skelton, who has persevered in the distance events and notched a AAA grade two performance at the Hampshire Schools championships.

Under-17 women, field: Alexis Curtis-Harris, another good all-rounder, who can jump, throw and sprint.

Under-17 men, track: Nick Bates, who was third in the Hampshire Schools 800 metres and a winner in the club championships.

Under-17 men, field: Robbie Kite, a very promising all-rounder who was second in the Hampshire Schools multi-events championships.

Under-20 women: Jenny Brierley, a big improver who was third in the Hampshire Schools 1,500m.

Under-20 men: Andy Blow, the Hampshire and Hampshire Schools champion at 400m, who has run under 50sec.

Senior women: Ria Lewis, who was second in the Hampshire championships and a winner of the BAL Cup 400m.

Most promising new athlete, male: Joe Fordham, who, in his first year of competition, was second in the Hampshire championships 400m.

Most promising new athlete, female: Stephanie Tribe, a promising sprinter who was a Hampshire championships finalist and third in the club open 100m.

Most improved junior athlete: Daniel Seabrook, who has done very well and is a promising middle distance and cross-country runner.

Ian Stevenson Award: David Fry collected this middle distance youth award for his perseverance and representing Hampshire.

Veteran female: Sian Harris, who competed well in Vets League events.
