THE Turner Sims Concert Hall in Highfield, Southampton, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with world music treat. Among the line-up for this special season is a one-off concert, featuring two of world music's biggest stars.
On Sunday the venue will host the only joint UK appearance of Argentinean accordion player Chango Spasiuk and Portuguese fado singer Ana Sofia Varela. Chango Spasiuk plays the traditional music of the area in north eastern Argentina where he grew up - chamame.
This is a swinging, heady mix of rural polka and tango.
He has recently been nominated for the BBC World Music Awards in the Best Newcomer category.
