BEN Walton - who runs Ben's dry cleaners in Union Street - will be working flat out for Children in Need.

He plans to become Andover's very own Ironer on the Roof of Andover Guildhall.

He will be clambering onto a flat section of the Guildhall from 10am to 4pm ironing clothes for the BBC TV fundraising event on 19 November.

About 150 shirts are manually ironed at his shop every week, but Ben will be sponsored to iron his own clothes on the big day. "I have no idea how much I'll be doing. A lot will depend on the weather."

He's not allowed to have any electrics on the roof, so volunteers will be supplying him with cordless irons throughout the day.

Andover town crier Allan Travell will be proclaiming his efforts.
