TELEVISION scientist Lord Robert Winston was among hundreds of graduates to be presented with a degree certificate from Southampton Institute.
The internationally renowned professor of fertility studies at Imperial College, London, was made a Doctor of Technology at Southampton Guildhall yesterday.
The 64-year-old, known for his appearances in BBC science programmes, was given the honorary degree for his contribution to the field of technology.
Jan Bradford MBE, head of the academic registry at Southampton Institute, said: "The award is in recognition of Lord Winston's outstanding contribution to research in medical technology and also his high regard for his ability to make complex scientific and ethical issues accessible through the media.
"His work is epitomised in television science programmes including Child of our Times."
