TOMORROW, (6th), kick-off 2.30pm at The Sports Centre, Romsey have to replay last week's game against Old Emanuel. The referee decided to invoke the uncontested scrummage regulation after 33 minutes of the second half when Romsey were leading 16-10. At this point the competition rules dictate that the match is abandoned and the result null and void.
"This is a nonsense that has afflicted us twice in recent seasons and is something that the RFU must sort out as quickly as possible," said Romsey president,Bob Broomhall.
"In fairness to the RFU the process is designed to protect players from themselves and from those of a litigious bent.
"But rugby fans know that there have already been abuses of the system and the cynics amongst us are possibly right in saying that feigned injury to front row players will become a tactic in some coaching manuals."
