MATT OAKLEY wasn't the only first team squad player in action for the reserves last night. Jeremy Wilson rounds up what impact the others had...
LEANDRE GRIFFIT: Lit up the first-half last night. Superb skill on the ball and displayed his full range of passing and dribbling. Also looked dangerous himself as he drifted into the middle. Now that he is back from injury, he offers a real option in midfield. Easily the best bet to produce that creative spark, but Steve Wigley may be worried about his tendency to 'wander' from his wide position and leave the full-back exposed. Even so, it seems strange he has not been involved more for the first-team since emerging with a brilliant goal against Blackburn last year.
CHRIS BAIRD: Probably sick by now of being called 'Saints' FA Cup final hero' as he tries to establish himself in the first-team. Looked very solid at right-back last night and wasn't threatened, but looks unlikely to displace Darren Kenton at the moment. Rarely got beyond Arron Davies in front of him and may need to add more attacking threat to challenge Kenton and Jason Dodd.
LEON BEST: Looked very powerful on the ball and was a big threat to the Leicester centre-backs. Was fairly quiet for long periods but popped up for two striker's goals. Could well keep his place on the bench against West Brom even if Kevin Philips returns.
YOANN FOLLY: Did the simple things well. Good passer with quick feet. Linked up well with Oakley in the first-half as their understanding noticeably developed as the game wore on. Will surely be pushing for a first-team place after also returning successfully from injury.
