LOCKS Heath extended their lead at the top of the Wessex League Division 2 last night with a 1-0 victory over Petersfield Town.
It was a stunning result as 'Heath played 82 minutes with only ten men after their keeper Matt Wiltshire was sent off for a reckless eighth minute challenge on a Petersfield striker.
Defender Shaun Munce took over between the posts and Pete Lines grabbed the winning goal from close range after 25 minutes following a downward header by Dave Hepple.
"It's three very good points under the circumstances," said a relieved 'Heath manager Matt Parr.
Netley Central Sports continue their climb up the Division 3 table after pipping Overton United 4-3 at Station Road.
Goals from Ben Calder (25), Pete Childs (30), Ricky Bull (60) and Kristian Pell (63) squeezing out efforts by Overton's Rob Tyson (15), Steve Green (47) and Lee Hughes (88).
Division 2 promotion chasers Romsey Town need extra-time before finally overcoming Division 3 leaders Farnborough North End 3-1 in the second round of the Wessex League Cup.
Simon De'Ath levelled on 35 minutes after the visitors had taken an early lead with Andy Kemp (110) and De'Ath (114) striking in the second period of extra-time.
