HE'S DRAWING in listeners from across the world with his Swinging Sixties repertoire.
When he's not running the Swanmore post office, Hedge End resident Gary Jackson is entertaining fans from the USA, Canada and even Croatia - from the comfort of his own home.
Since he started up his 60s Internet radio show two years ago, Gary has had nothing but positive feedback.
The idea snowballed after he set up his own web- site for people who love the era, called My Generation.
When he realised there was a definite throng of fans out there that would love to tune into an all 60s music station, he summoned his years of exp-erience as a DJ and set one up from his own PC.
Now, 24 hours a day, people worldwide can listen to tunes from bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to their hearts' content on a show Gary records once a fortnight and is then broadcast from San Francisco.
Gary, who lives with his wife, Rose, 55, in Waterbeech Drive, said: "I would definitely say this is my passion. I love the 60s and I've managed to build up a listenership of thousands across the world who want to hear the old songs from the time.
"People mostly request things by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones but there are also songs I play that were found on the B-side of old hits that are often as good as the hits themselves.
"They're not played on the radio now, but people who went out and bought those records remember them. That's what is great about the show."
He added: "I pay royalties for all the songs I use but not that much because the show is broadcast in San Francisco by a large company."
Gary was a mobile disco DJ for 15 years and later did hospital radio at the Royal County Hampshire Hospital in Winchester.
Although he is a sub-postmaster of his local post office in New Road, it's DJing that he loves.
He is hoping he'll get more listeners and that the show will grow from strength to strength.
Gary said: "I've got listeners from the USA, the UK and even Argentina and Croatia - it's amazing that some of them can actually understand what I'm saying. But we have a love for 60s music in
common. What the future holds for the show I don't know - but I love what I'm doing now."
