FORENSIC super sleuths from Basingstoke College of Technology have taken part in a mock murder investigation.
Students working towards their National Diploma in forensic science joined forces with University College London's forensic science outreach programme to investigate the pretend murder of the college principal Judith Armstrong on Wednesday, May 19.
The students had to search the college grounds for her body, and then painstakingly excavate the grave site. They had to recover evidence such as soil and vegetation specimens and fingerprints, which were then scientifically analysed.
The following Friday, the students travelled to London to University College to present their evidence in a mock courtroom where they were questioned and cross-examined by trainee barristers.
Steven Bailey, one of the students taking part, said: "It was an action-packed few days and it was nerve-wracking giving evidence in court, but we all enjoyed the experience."
