PUPILS at John Hunt of Everest Community School got a taste of work life when they took part in a business and industry activity day.
The Year 10 pupils, aged 14 to 15, spent the day involved in various activities aimed at preparing them for the world of work.
In preparation for the event, pupils had to select a job from The Gazette's employment section, and write letters of application for the post, including creating their own CVs.
On the day, pupils had the opportunity to have mock interviews with representatives from companies such as AWE, CTIB, Business Dynamics and Sony.
They were also encouraged to dress appropriately for an interview, before getting feedback from the companies about their body language, appropriate responses to give and dress code.
The whole school was also able to share in the day as a careers fair was organised with local businesses presenting job options and possibilities to the students.
Now in its second year, Ann Crawford, head of careers at the school, said the day had gone "far more smoothly than last year", and that the students had found the event to be "highly beneficial".
