FAWLEY'S brave efforts to haul themselves off the bottom of Hampshire League 2 fell flat at Bishopstoke Recreation Ground.
Instead opponents Eastleigh doubled their points tally for the season and moved into mid-table with a deserved 14-3 victory.
Eastleigh totally dominated the first half hour and scored two good tries from Martin Kirby and Dave Craddock, both converted by Jon Palaccio.
With the Fawley defence lying flat Peter Noonan varied his play and his set up would have ended with a classic try if Wayne Hayward had not slipped on the treacherous surface and fallen flat.
Fawley spoiled well and Eastleigh suffered a penalty count against them of ten to one in trying to free the ball.
A couple of powerful runs by Fawley full back Steve Eaton forced the home side to desperate defence and they finally conceded a penalty which was kicked by Ian Sinclair.
In the second half Eastleigh continued to rule the line-outs through Richard Barker and Russ Smith who, jumping at two, took many of the opponents' throws.
Paul Taylor again excelled in attack and defence and the pack won the scrummages convincingly, going close to two pushover tries.
In a more even second half Eastleigh finished strongly and excellent breaks twice faltered only on the final pass.
Trojans continue to dominate Hampshire One and notched their sixth league win on the trot with a 22-7 victory over Nomads.
Fareham Heaths move into second after returning from the New Forest with a 17-15 victory over New Milton.
Millbrook chalked up a wonderful away victory - 28-8 at Farnborough - but Alresford are still to get off the mark, losing out 38-5 on the Isle of Wight.
Back in Hampshire 2 Chineham hold top spot after a resounding 42-3 triumph at Fordingbridge. Chineham have won three from four and lost just one.
But Aldershot & Fleet and Ellingham & Ringwood boast the same record and are poised to take advantage of any slips.
East Dorset hold pride of place in Hampshire 3 after winning 19-8 at Kingsclere.
Stoneham Park came close to getting off the mark this season but lost out 16-14 at home to Overton.
