SAINTS were agonisingly denied their first Premiership victory under Steve Wigley at Highbury this afternoon when Robin Van Persie equalised in the 92nd minute.
Rory Delap had earlier inspired Saints to a dramatic fight-back with two goals after Thierry Henry had struck for Arsenal in the 65th minute.
But it finished two-all following a breathtaking finale.
Both Saints goals came from the head of Delap as the Irishman brilliantly met substitute Neil McCann's inch-perfect crosses on the 80th and 85th minutes.
Saints had matched Arsenal in the first-half and were desperately unlucky not to take the lead after 20 minutes.
Danny Higginbotham had played the ball across to Mikael Nilsson, who controlled and unleashed a fierce shot which beat Jens Lehmann but rebounded acrosss the goal off the inside of the post.
Henry missed a penalty for Arsenal in the first-half, while Antti Niemi made a string of brilliant second-half saves.
Despite the cruel ending, it was an oustanding performance and a brilliant point.
