YOUNGSTERS in Southampton used music to highlight the dangers of drugs at a community event in Sholing.
The free event at St Francis Church Hall saw budding DJs join forces with community leaders and stars from the Solent Stars basketball team to hammer home the message of how harmful drug use can be.
The event was organised by the local housing office, the city council's youth service and the substance misuse action group.
As well as giving young people the chance to DJ, there was free advice and information for parents and teenagers about drug use and alternative ways of spending their time.
Organiser Helen Gothard said: "Local closed-circuit TV cameras were picking up more and more images of children using drugs, some as young as 12 years old.
"I felt there was a real need to provide these young people with an idea of what the alternatives are."
