THE first ever Andover Monopoly championships will be held at Chute Village Hall on Saturday 20 November.

The whole thing started with children in the villages who developed an interest for Monopoly - one of the most enduring board games.

Village hall chairman Pat Caddick explained that developed into a game between the adults and the children - and as interest grew they decided to find out if there was an Andover Monopoly club.

"We contacted Hasbro and they said that there wasn't one but if we would like to start the first Monopoly competition in the Andover area they would support it," said Mrs Caddick.

Seeking amusement for young, old and families alike to take part in, this seemed the perfect idea - and the first Andover Monopoly championship was born.

There will be tables of six entrepreneurs battling it out in 90-minute games for the privilege of taking part in the finals on the day, which will start with registration at 1.30pm followed by the competition proper at 2pm.
