A PUBLIC toilet and school in Hampshire have lost out on a prestigious national architectural award - to a Yorkshire relief road.
The £157,000 convenience at Brookley Road, Brockenhurst, along with Wildern School were both shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award. But hopes were flushed down the pan when the A650 Bingley Relief Road in West Yorkshire was named as the winner at a presentation last night.
Judges said the 4.5km road had made an "immense difference" to the quality of life for motorists and town residents.
