WHO better to take up the baton as musical director for Gosport Amateur Operatic Society's (GAOS) latest show than the aptly named Albert Hall?
Albert clocks up his 19th show in the orchestra pit for GAOS who are performing the much-loved musical Oklahoma!.
His musical ability extends much further than the connection of his name with one of Britain's greatest musical venues.
A former Royal Marine musician, accomplished in the tuba and double bass, Albert, a member of GAOS for nine years, also plays in the Hampshire Ex-Servicemen Concert Band as well as conducting Gosport Silver Band.
Despite all this experience, Albert admits he still gets nervous before a show.
"The pressure is really on when you put on a show so well-known as Oklahoma!," he says. "People often know the songs as well as the cast do."
Set in the wild west, this Rogers and Hammerstein classic looks at love triumphing over conflict and includes hit songs such as Oh What a Beautiful Morning!, Oklahoma! and I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say No.
GAOS are promising a polished show having been in music rehearsals twice-weekly for four months.
Ferneham Hall, Fareham. Tuesday to November 6. Tickets: from £9. Box office: 01329 231942.
