THE number of Saints fans arrested last season dropped.
Home Office statistics show 21 supporters were collared by police at Premiership matches in 2003/04, compared with 23 in 2002/03.
Just three top flight clubs had fewer fans arrested - Charlton (six), Fulham (eight) and Bolton (18).
In all competitions, 28 fans were arrested.
Crimes committed included throwing missiles, violent disorder and alcohol offences.
But the number of hooligans banned from following the Saints increased to 22. Fifteen banning orders have been imposed since the start of last season.
They are outlawed from attending matches at St Mary's or any other football in England plus internationals.
