Franz Ferdinand, Portsmouth Guildhall
PORTSMOUTH Guildhall welcomed Franz Ferdinand on Saturday night, and the Glasgow quartet knew precisely what the crowd wanted and exactly how to deliver it.
Igniting the stage with latest single Michael, before roaring through The Dark of the Matinee and making every follower explode to Take Me Out.
On their award-winning debut album, much energy is effectively suppressed in tracks Cheating On You, Love and Destroy and 40ft.
On stage however, that energy is powerfully unleashed to a thrilling degree, proving they don't just work with the crowd, they work for them.
And with a superb extensive encore, the wide demographic audience loves them for it.
The newly-written track I'm Your Villain heightens the already ecstatic anticipation for a follow-up album.
Fans will need a towel for a stylish and surprisingly memorable performance that leaves you literally sweating for more.
It will be a long time before anyone takes this band out.
