WELL known stories are told again and again, for the simple reason that they are so good.
One such story is Jane Eyre. And in Dalian Players' telling, the word that comes most to mind is charming.
Charming to walk through the library setting to get to our seats, there to witness a charming love story, and in the midst of the action an especially charming portrayal of the governess' charge - Adele Carens - by young Danielle Betteridge.
The key characters were the governess Jane Eyre (Nichola Poore), Mrs Fairfax (Sandra C Franks) and the irritable Mr Rochester (Nigel Franks). Between them, and the cameos of the large cast, we followed the twists and turns of a classic tale.
The entertainment extended beyond the story itself, to the exploits of the stage crew. Not once, but twice, they completely reconstructed the set before our very eyes - both times getting a deserved round of applause!
