BLACKFIELD & Langley were left singing in the rain after Saturday's appalling weather washed out all but two games of the Division 2 programme.

The Watersiders kept AFC Aldermaston nailed firmly to the foot of the table as they romped to a convincing 5-1 awayday success in Berkshire.

"I thought that it was a very good performance from us today as we managed to finish the game off which is something we haven't done recently.

"Also credit to the officials who did well to get the game played," said Blackfield & Langley chairman Ian Hoare.

The visitors opened the scoring after ten minutes, Neil Williams laying the ball off to Danny Mockeridge who fired in from 12 yards before Williams rounded the keeper to make it 2-0 on 28 minutes.

Mockeridge added a third from the edge of the penalty area after 35 minutes and then Williams again ran through to round the keeper for Blackfield's fourth goal on the hour mark.

Williams completed an impressive hat trick on 75 minutes when he beat two Aldermaston defenders on the left-hand side of the penalty area before slamming the ball into the net. Barry Smith netted a late consolation for the Berkshire boys.

The only other game to survive was at Andover New Street where a first-half penalty converted by Danny Carter secured Shaftesbury a narrow 1-0 verdict.

Whitchurch United's home game against Liss Athletic was scheduled to go ahead but a deluge greeted the match referee's arrival at 1.30pm and he ruled the pitch unfit.
