SINCE City Screen took over Harbour Lights in October 1999 the cinema has been going from strength to strength, helped enormously by its legions of loyal members and regular cinema goers.
Those of you who remember the troubles Harbour Lights had in the past will realise what a very big occasion it is for it to have reached its 5th Birthday, this weekend.
Harbour Lights was originally set up as a private company in 1995 and closed in early 1999 when it went into liquidation and was then taken over by City Screen in October of that year.
Louise Scutts, General Manager says "It was a very dark time for all of us who worked here - and I've been here from day one! I am so pleased that we are the thriving cinema we are today, still bringing people the most eclectic mix of films in a truly unique atmosphere."
Tomorrow the cinema will holding showing a free screening, only for members, of the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup and, for the first time on a British screen since its premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival, the amazing surfing documentary Riding Giants.
