AN exchange scheme aimed at broadening knowledge of life overseas gave five visitors from India a taste of the Hampshire lifestyle.
The Group Study Exchange is an established Rotary Club scheme and this year District 3010 India linked with Andover and one of the visitors, Shashi Bidawat, visited a number of businesses and organisations to see how they operated.
Shashi, a highly qualified businesswoman, is also a freelance journalist so it was fitting that after visiting the Whitchurch Silk Mill, Longparish and Cricklade College she should call in on the Andover Advertiser.
After editor Joe Scicluna explained the routines of producing the newspaper to Shashi she met and talked to the staff.
"I loved talking to the editor and appreciate the effort the newspaper makes in highlighting the problems, joys and issues of the area," said Shashi, who hails from Delhi. "Meeting people in Andover has been enriching and I will cherish my memories of my stay here and the caring and generous people who have been such a source of inspiration for me."
