THE people of Andover stepped back more than 360 years at the weekend as Andover's voluntary arts group Take Five organised a re-enactment to commemorate the Civil War Battle of Andover in 1644.
More than 500 people gathered at Vigo Road Recreation Ground on Sunday for the re-enactment of the battle between the Royalists and Parliamentarians, performed by the Sealed Knot.
As well as a hog roast and face painting at the recreaction ground, Andover Museum offered people the chance to try on Civil War armoury and enter a family civil war trail.
More than 200 people passed through the museum on the day and 17 families took part in a trail which led them around the town answering questions about Andover in 1644.
