THE Kids from Fame dream about living forever.
Whether or not they are likely to reach that goal is debatable but the stage show that tells the story of students at the New York High School for the Performing Arts certainly seems as though it's going to be around for a while.
The ever-popular musical, adapted from the Oscar-winning movie and legendary television series, returns to The Mayflower on Monday thanks to popular demand.
The show follows a group of students at the famous performing arts school through highs and lows, romances and sheer hard work as they search for the success that will make their name live forever.
Not everyone makes the grade and the success of some of the students is marred by the tragedy of others.
The show is not a remake of the film or TV series and does not feature the familiar characters that so many of us grew up with but instead centres on a separate group of hopefuls.
But even if the characters aren't the same, there are plenty of things that fans of the series and film will recognise, including the legwarmers, spontaneous dance routines and the show's trademark song.
The Mayflower, Southampton. Monday, October 25 to Saturday, October 30. Tickets from £15. Box office: 023 8071 1811.
