NEW MILTON'S Danny Goode has made a winning start to his professional boxing career.
The light-middleweight hope was a comfortable points winner against Welshman Geraint Harvey at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham.
Harvey had won his first two fights as a professional, but has recently been on a losing streak and never seriously threatened the former Lawrence Club amateur.
Goode, who models himself on former British boxing great Nigel Benn, said: "I was very nervous at the start of the fight, but the crowd support was fantastic.
"I won every round, got the job done and was chuffed with my performance."
Goode has been boxing since the age of 15 and is managed, trained and promoted by Mark Roe, whose stable of fighters includes heavyweight Julius Francis.
With sponsorship from local businessman Ivor Mitchell, Goode is now looking to his second professional fight which is scheduled for December 11.
