A TEAM of women who took part in the Race for Life is urging participants to send in their sponsorship money.
Thirty women, who all work at Tesco in Millbrook, Southamp-ton, raised more than £1,600 between them when they completed the 5km national event in aid of Cancer Research.
They were among the 10,000 women who took part in the country's biggest Race for Life in Southampton in July.
Last week the Daily Echo revealed how in Southampton alone 4,500 of the participants have not sent back a penny - despite collecting pledges that could total more than £250,000.
Today the women from Tesco are urging people that it is never too late to get their money in.
"Some people feel they have left it too long and are too embarrassed to collect it," said Tesco team member Liz Close.
"But they should send it in now. They can just pick up the phone and do it with a credit card."
She felt much of the discrepancy could be down to the number of people who actually took part.
"My feeling is that it was such a great atmosphere that those who did take part were genuine and will have sent their money in," she said.
"But I think a lot of people who entered and paid their fee might not have actually taken part in the end."
You can pay online by going to www.raceforlife.org, call the Race for Life hotline on 08705 134 314 or send a cheque to Race for Life, PO Box 50, Crawley, RH10 9WA.
