HAMPSHIRE have signed pace-bowler Richard Logan from Nottinghamshire.
The 24-year-old clearly impressed back in early June when he took match figures of 8-90 as eventual Second Division champions Notts were victorious by an innings and 44 runs inside two days against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.
Logan took 4-56 in the firsat innings and 4-34 in the second in what was one of only three championship matches he played in 2004.
In the other two, he recorded overall match figures of 2-263!
Logan, who was revealed in the Daily Echo last week as a potential Rose Bowl target, is Hampshire's first addition of the off-season and could still be joined by his former Trent Bridge team-mate Kevin Pietersen.
The off-spinning England all-rounder has recently rejected the offer of a new contract at Notts.
The signing of Staffordshire-born Logan will greatly bolster Hampshire's seam department as they prepare for life in the top-flight of both the championship and National League.
He was out of contract at the end of this summer after four years at Trent Bridge. Previously he had spent two years at Northants, making his first-class debut in 1999.
Logan, who has joined on a two-year contract, said: "I am very excited and I am really looking forward to the challenge of bowling in the top divisions."
In a first-class career going back to 1999, the former England Under-19 international has taken 107 wickets in 37 matches at an average of 34.
In addition, he has taken 57 wickets in 49 one-day matches at an average of 33.87 with a best haul of 5-24.
Lancashire have signed Brad Hodge on a two-year deal. The Australian was the top runscorer in the second division of the championship in 2004 while playing for Leicestershire with 1548 runs.
