Lymington Town moved back to the head of the Sydenhams Wessex League table - until this evening at least - with a 4-1 victory over Bishop's Waltham at Southampton Road last night.

But it wasn't all plain sailing for the Foresters who had trailed at the interval after a superb 35-yard free kick by Ben Kirby had given the visitors a surprise half-time lead.

A bullet header by Danny Veal from a Steve Jenkin cross after 48 minutes put Town back on terms and they took the lead on the hour when another Jenkin delivery was headed home by substitute Carlo Tate with one of his first touches of the ball.

Danny Adams made it 3-1 ten minutes from time and Veal notched their fourth in the final minute when he beat the Waltham keeper in a one-on-one.

"Waltham played well in the first half, but we really upped our work-rate after the break and that saw us through," said Lymington assistant manager John Bailey.

Blackfield & Langley chairman Ian Hoare saw his club fritter away two points in a 2-2 draw with Liss Athletic at Gang Warily.

"I'm gutted, we were cruising, playing nice football and had them on the back foot but then we didn't keep it going for the last ten minutes," sighed Hoare.

Neil Williams put Blackfield in front with a shot from just outside the penalty area on 60 minutes and a deflected Steve Hartley effort doubled their advantage eight minutes later only for a Roy Dunning double (80 & 85) to snatch Liss a late point.

Alresford Town clamber into the top ten following their 3-0 home win against US Portsmouth.

On 29 minutes, Danny Kyle headed the ball back across the face of goal for defender Mark Vallence to score on his first-team debut and, nine minutes later, Mark Sherwin intercepted a back pass to round the US keeper for their second.

Substitute Phil Anderson completed the scoring with his first touch after 75 minutes, latching on to a flick by Dean Cole to beat the keeper in a one-on-one.

Alresford boss Keith Curtis praised his men afterwards.
