YOU'VE been framed! That was the message sent out from Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council last night to yobs who smashed bottles in the goalmouths of football pitches at the weekend.
Council chairman Helen Douglas said the offenders had been caught on CCTV and clearly identified.
She warned: "We have reported it. It is the parish council's policy to pursue any antisocial behaviour or vandalism very strongly - and we will be doing that."
Cllr Douglas told how young people had been filmed drinking under the overhang of the pavilion at Fair Oak's Lapstone recreation ground.
"They then decided that the best thing to do with these bottles was to break them in the goalmouths of the football pitch."
The groundsman spent an entire morning picking up shards of glass and the pitch had to be taken out of use for the day.
The local beat officer had been due to give an overview of antisocial issues ahead of a discussion of the issue by councillors, but Cllr Douglas said the local policeman was unable to attend because he was on a course.
She said the matter would be put on the back burner until the next meeting but added: "We are having quite a lot of petty antisocial behaviour at present."
Parish clerk Cheryl Gosling also reported how youngsters had intimidated members of a bowls club at Fair Oak Village Hall and broken a window after failing to get into the building. The village centre was also experiencing problems.
She added: "On a Monday morning all I seem to be doing is answering calls about problems caused by antisocial behaviour on Friday nights."
The Rev David Snuggs told parish council colleagues: "There seems to be a network of youngsters who are excluded from their various schools who are congregating here during the daytime and evenings. The church campus is a favourite site."
