JENNY Earle set a new British record at the recent British Masters Athletic Federation Throws Pentathlon Championships at Barnet.
This year's event was the biggest ever, with over 150 entrants, of which 20 were women.
The competition consists of five different disciplines, points being awarded for the distance gained on each throw.
On the day, Earle was on top form, winning the ladies' trophy and setting a new British record, with a total of 3,431 points, making it her fifth British record of the year.
Earle spoke of how the weather in 2004 had made training more difficult.
She said: "I've had to do a lot more indoor fitness and power training this year because we have had such a very wet summer. It has played havoc with fitting a training plan together."
During the past few months, Earle has been training to be a sports therapist, as well as working as a duty manager and personal trainer at Basingstoke Sport Centre.
She is also hoping to be selected for the British Masters judo team, which travels to St Petersburg, Russia, at the end of the month, to compete in the European Masters Judo Championship.
"Doing judo and athletics has been a punishing schedule, but the results have been amazing," said Earle.
