A NEW documentary about the history of the legendary Spitfire fighter and its links with Eastleigh is to be premiered in the town.
For a year 23 young enthusiasts have been working on the Spitfires Over Eastleigh project thanks to a £12,600 grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots programme to Eastleigh Council's media arts development team.
Crispian Cook, media development officer at Eastleigh's dance and arts centre The Point, has managed the project which has given the youngsters the chance to work with professional film makers and interview a Spitfire pilot. Gary Cassey, of video production company Cass Productions, has worked with the youngsters throughout the project. He said: "It has been great to work with a mix of young people from a wide range of backgrounds."
The film will be premiered at The Point on October 30 during the Family Film and Theatre Festival.
