SPORTING enthusiasts from across Fareham will gather on Thursday for the mayor's sports reception.
The mayor, Councillor David Swanbrow, will host the evening, which honours the sports clubs, groups and associations that have done the most to encourage sports participation and development.
Among the awards will be the presentation of the Toon Cup to members of Warsash Tennis Club.
The annual honour, which recognises the club's commitment to sports development for young people, is in memory of former mayor of Fareham Jock Toon.
Video footage and images of the sporting world in Fareham will also be shown.
Leisure chief Cllr Connie Hockley said: "These awards are not only a merit of achivement for the sports clubs of Fareham, but also a great opportunity to say thank you to the parents, coaches, team managers and helpers for their hard work and support.
"The evening is about recognising the efforts and successes of Fareham's sporting community as a whole."
The event takes place at Ferneham Hall in Osborn Road from 4pm to 6.30pm.
