WITH most of the teams involved in local cup competition, there was the opportunity for others to make up ground on the leading pack.
Vernham Dean took their chance with a 5-0 win against BTC Soton. Robertson gave them the lead as early as the fourth minute and an own goal on half-time pushed them further in front.
Two second-half strikes, from Mount and Belben, sealed the points.
Andover New Street A also took advantage with a narrow 3-2 win against Upham. Niall Clemence's speculative cross-shot sailed over the Upham keeper for the opener.
Wes Allwood levelled early in the second half but New Street responded almost immediately through Mark Payne.
Stuart Creese again drew Upham level, finishing off a superb team move, but New Street nicked a winner late on with Payne scoring his second.
