DESPITE missing Scott Bartlett Glenn Howes and Mark Lisk through injury, Salisbury comprehensively dumped highly-rated Conference South side Weston-super-Mare out of the FA Cup 3-1 to one to book their place in the fourth qualifying round draw.

Assistant manager Barry Blankley said: "Today the players answered a fair few of the questions I had about them after our poor performance in midweek.

"This was a superb game with everyone connected with the club very happy as we started as underdogs.

"The game was a pleasure to watch and just the correct reward for our very large travelling support. It could have been 5-1 or 6-1 in the end."

Robbie Matthews tested keeper Ryan Northmore in a bright start, with the only threat from the home side coming on 14 minutes when Mark McGregor flashed the ball across the Salisbury six-yard box.

The Whites looked the more dangerous coming forward and two minutes later Matt Tubbs was brought down in the box, Craig Davis blasting home the spot kick - although Weston's McGregor should have done better with a free header eight minutes later.

A whirlwind opening to the second period had the Whites buzzing around the Weston area, and Davis made it 2-0 on 51 minutes.

After Tubbs had hit the woodwork, Matthews blasted in a Davis cross for the third goal with six minutes remaining.

As the hosts desperately tried to salvage some pride, Adie Mings was adjudged to have been pushed in the Salisbury area and Jon French stepped up to take the resultant spot-kick.

Salisbury keeper Kevin Sawyer's valiant attempt to keep the ball out resulted in a goalmouth melee and the unfortunate Tubbs blasted the ball into the roof of his own net in an attempted clearance.

Blankley concluded: "We don't mind who we get in the next round or where we get them.

"If we play like that at home we will win and if we play like that away we will win."
