AID convoys from a Hampshire organisation have returned home after delivering more vital supplies to impoverished families in Kosovo.
Scores of Daily Echo readers gave donations to Hope and Aid Direct during the summer ahead of their journey. Of the 60 tonnes of aid, which included clothes and food, about 12 tonnes was donated from Hampshire alone.
A 12-strong convoy has now returned from a two-week mission in the former war-torn state. Charles Lewry, who was among a 24-man team that handed out supplies, said up to 2,000 families in Kosovo were given aid.
The 51-year-old from Chandler's Ford said: "They have so little and, in a way, just the fact we are going there means as much to them as the things we are actually giving them.
"The response we had before we went from Daily Echo readers was phenomenal."
It was the third aid convoy in 18 months to the former Yugoslavian province.
