A REWARD of £100,000 was offered today to catch the gunman who killed Southampton gold dealer Ricky Haywood 15 years ago.
The huge sum was pledged by Ricky's elderly mother, who said she would sell her West End home to finance the reward. Phyllis Haywood, 75, has never got over the death of her only son and will not rest until she knows who killed him - and why.
Today, on the 15th anniversary of Ricky's body being found in his Shirley flat, the great-grandmother doubled the previous reward.
Hampshire police have promised to follow up any new lines of inquiry to solve what has become one of the oldest murder inquiries on their books.
