REVENGE is a dish best served cold - and plentifully with today's demand for great cinema.
We can't get enough of revenge films such as Kill Bill, which is why British director Shane Meadows is on to a winner with the release of his new film, Dead Man's Shoes.
The film tells the tale of Richard (Paddy Considine), a ruthless ex-Army man, who returns to his hometown to pin down the local drug dealers who tortured his retarded brother.
The crazed killer soon picks off each member of the gang in gory fashion.
The murders are conducted in a meticulously, DIY-style.
Using the signature camera techniques of the British film industry, the story is shot realistically in a style similar to auteur directors such as Ken Loach, which makes the violence even more chilling.
It refuses to gloss over the violence in a Hollywood style, which means audience members of a squeamish nature might feel a little uncomfortable with just how real the killings seem.
