SOUTHAMPTON'S past is being celebrated at the city's most historic monument.
An art exhibition has opened at the Bargate, featuring the work of six local artists.
Pieces range from sculptures, paintings and drawings to video art and works representing Southampton's history.
Artist Wayne Campbell, from the city's Newtown Studios, said: "The exhibition is the culmination of several months' very hard work by all the artists.
"The exhibition will not only give the people of Southampton the chance to see this lovely building but also to learn something of its history through the art."
The exhibition runs until Friday, December 3 and is open from 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday.
