GILL Craig was last night crowned Wessex Businesswoman of the Year.
The co-founder of Whiteoaks, a public relations consultancy, shook with emotion as she stepped up to receive her glass trophy in front of 220 people.
She told them: "I'm absolutely thrilled, overwhelmed and very proud to be the owner of this prestigious award."
Gill, whose firm is based at Farnham, was singled out by judges for her ability to motivate 40 staff by stretching thinking and performance.
Having survived breast cancer, she also set up a support group for other sufferers, called Bosom Buddies.
Last night's event was held at the Brabazon Restaurant, next to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in the New Forest.
Thousands of pounds were raised during the evening, which featured a celebrity auction, for the Winged Fellowship Trust.
The charity, which is being renamed Vitalise from November 1, provides holidays for the disabled and their carers near Southampton and elsewhere in the UK and abroad.
