Eastleigh - away to Tiverton Town in the FA Cup tomorrow - will be welcoming Lawrie McMenemy and Alan Ball to their Sparshatts Stadium headquarters later this month.

The Southampton soccer legends will officially open the new club stand, which has now been completed at a cost of £250,000, prior to the home game against Cheshunt.

As well as providing a 350-seater facility, the stand also houses home and away team changing rooms with showers, a treatment room, directors' room and kitchen.

"The completion of the stand brings us into line with the league requirements," said manager Paul Doswell.

"We now have a modern, compact stadium with a 3,000 capacity that gives our fans and the club just the facilities they need to make us the best, both on and off the pitch."

After a run of seven league and cup games undefeated, Eastleigh suffered a hiccup at Yeading on Tuesday where they were well beaten 3-2 by the Ryman Premier title chasers.

It proved an education for Eastleigh who, by their own admission, struggled to cope with Yeading's pace and movement.

But Doswell said: "The good thing is that we didn't get stuffed and we won't let it detract us from what we do at Tiverton.

"Tomorrow's is just as big a game, if not bigger."

Eastleigh, in the third qualifying round for the first time since their Swaythling Athletic days of 1981/82, will again be without injured defender Danny Rofe to face the Southern Premier side.

The players are coughing up half their wages to pay for an overnight stay in Devon tonight.

Doswell said: "This is the second year we've all been together now and the spirit in the camp is excllent."
