TWENTY one years ago the first Jongleurs comedy club was opened in a disused roller disco in Battersea by former drama teacher Maria Kempinska.
Today, Jongleurs is the biggest comedy club in the world with 17 venues throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The legendary comedy club is celebrating its 21st birthday this year with special parties around the country and, as Southampton holds one of their busiest clubs, manager Helen Pritchard feels it is only right that fans get a chance to party.
"Southampton is a busy, thriving city, and to be part of its entertainment scene is fantastic," said the manager of the High Street club. "We have been open for six years and people obviously know where to come for a good laugh - our comedy shows are hugely popular."
The Southampton party will be held on Thursday, October 21 and is guaranteed to be a night of rip-roaring laughter.
Comedians in the line-up for the Southampton party include Peter Berman and Paul Tonkinson.
As well as top-class comedy, the night will feature a champagne reception for special guests and music and dancing after the Jongleurs comedians have had the guests crying with laughter.
