WINCHESTER schoolchildren are enjoying for the first time the use of a computer suite at their school.
The 320 children at Stanmore Primary School have this term been using the ICT suite in a spare classroom.
Ali Richardson, librarian, said: "It has been a huge success and the children love it. It looks lovely with its swish new flat screen monitors.
"As well as 17 computers, there is a digital projector on to a screen which the teacher can use and can highlight good examples of pupils' work. The kids really like that."
Ms Richardson added: "If you are sitting at the back and decide to fiddle with a few buttons, the teacher can freeze your keyboard. It's brilliant. You know what children are like, although most pay 100 per cent attention. There is no clock in the suite and a couple of times classes have overrun into lunchtime. It is the first time we have had a dedicated suite, although there have been computers in the classes."
