GORDON Pink: It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of Gordon Pink, who passed away last Monday.
Mr Pink was the son of Vi and Horace Pink, who used to live at 7a The Street.
He was known throughout the village as a scallywag in his younger days, and attended Old Basing infant and junior schools.
He was a regular member of Old Basing Youth Club.
He was also a long-serving naval man, but moved to the Midlands some years ago, but still made regular visits back to the village to see his friends.
TODDLERS group: At Old Basing Village Hall, from 1pm to 2.15pm, daily, throughout school term time.
Sarah Weir is the group leader, and she tells me that she is holding a baby sale this Saturday, between 2pm and 5pm.
For more information, call her on 817293.
BADMINTON: Yes, we do have a men's club within the village, but it's an amenity for anyone, even if you live outside of the area. They are looking for new members for their weekly session on a Tuesday, starting at 8.30pm.
For further information, call Peter Thorn on 352757.
BARN dance: The Friends of St Mary's are holding their renowned barn dance and supper evening on Saturday, November 13, at the village hall.
ANTIQUES evening: Most of the 60 tickets have probably been sold for the antiques evening on Thursday, but give Max a call on 817259, to see if there are any left.
