HAMPSHIRE golfing evergreens Chris Stirling and Chris Quinn were an integral part of the England side who swept to victory in the Senior Home Internationals at Kilkeel in Ireland.

England sealed top spot with a 7-0 whitewash of Wales on the final day after the team had dominated the three-day event to keep a firm grip on the crown which they won last year, when this Championship was launched. England put on a near-perfect performance throughout the series, winning 18 of their 21 matches. They beat Ireland 6-1 on the first day and followed up with a 5-2 win over Scotland, before staging their storming finish against Wales.

The team, captained by Bridget Jackson, was: Liz Boatman (Royal Worlington & Newmark-et), Carole Caldwell (Sunningdale), Chris Quinn (South Winchester), Vivien Saunders (Cambridge Meridian), Christine Stirling (Meon Valley), Christine Watson (Beaconsfield).

It capped a fine season for Quinn, who regained her place in Hampshire's County Championship final team and later won the England Seniors Championship.
