THE newly-formed trampoline squad from Basingstoke Gymnastic Club returned from their first-ever competition at the Chamberlayne Leisure Centre in Southampton with a bumper crop of medals.
Antonia Butler took pride of place with a double gold-winning performance, taking the individual crown at under-nine and also the team prize at the same age level, with Tayla Porter and Connor McKenzie.
Other good solo performances, all at under-nine, came from Porter with a bronze medal, Matt Butler in fifth, McKenzie sixth and Amelia Beck, who came eighth.
In the under-11 girls' class, Steph Harris was third in a very close competition.
In the boys' section in the same age group, eight-year-old Jack Hopkins was fifth against much older competitors.
There are currently eight youngsters in the Basingstoke squad, ranging from seven to 11 in age.
The current squad is coached by Gayle Mahoney, Lesley McKenzie and Emily Billington, and assisted by Sarah Butler.
The squad only started in January this year, and both the coaches and the youngsters have worked extremely hard to get to competition standard in such a short space of time.
