SOUTHAMPTON will be celebrating National School Meals Week this week.
City Catering, which provides school meals for most of the schools in the city, is urging its young diners to take part in national competitions which could see them in with the chance of winning some sports equipment. Five to seven-year-olds are being asked to complete an activity sheet. Click on: myschoollunch.co.uk/southampton - to download a copy.
The winner, decided by City Catering, will go forward to the regional prize draw, where the winner will receive £100 of sports equipment for themselves and a visit by a leading outdoor/adventure sporting personality to their school. Seven to 11-year-olds are being challenged to take part in online competitions at: www.food-isfun.co.uk
Irene Carroll, of CC, said: "National School Meals Week is about healthy eating. We hope children will eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. We are also aiming to help parents gain more understanding of the significance of good nutrition."
