SOUTHAMPTON Saints are still waiting for their first win and a change of luck in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division.
Their long, fruitless start to the season continued with a 2-1 defeat at Langford yesterday, yet it could all have been so different but for a disallowed goal.
Trailing to two Langford strikes in the third and 31st minutes, Saints clawed one back with a late Gemma Woodford free-kick. Prior to that, Cassie Thorp appeared to have scored a perfectly good goal, only for the referee to pull play back for a tussle that ensued after Saints' Amy Boucher played the ball into the danger zone.
Manager Sue Lopez said: "The goal was legitimate. The referee should have allowed it to stand and then sorted out the incident.
"It was a much-improved performance but, once again, we didn't get the rub of the green.
"We also hit the bar twice through Kim Stenning, on her full debut, and Ann-Marie Collins."
