RED-HOT Colden Common blazed their way to a fifth successive victory with an emphatic 5-0 victory against a Hamble Club side who had only lost one of their previous ten outings.
"I told them that we had to go out and give a championship performance today and that's exactly what they did," said Common boss Dave Riddell. "It wasn't pretty but I feel that sometimes we go out and try to play too much football against sides."
Common got off to a flying start with two goals in the first five minutes, Ross Lewis toe-poking home a cross from Simon Stillwell, who then provided the perfect delivery for Richard Lang to fire home his 100th goal for the club.
A firm downward header by James Atterbury made it 3-0 before the break, Dean Higgins added a fourth from the edge of the penalty area after 55 minutes with a 70th-minute stooping header by Joe Hodge completing their nap hand.
Unbeaten table-toppers Farnborough North End also bagged five goals without reply as they comfortably saw off QK Southampton 5-0 at Ringwood Road.
Tinoi Christie opened the scoring from a Steve Lloyd pull back after 16 minutes before Shaun Percy netted a 28th-minute header. Lloyd then got in on the goal action by heading in a Darren Sked cross on 34 minutes before netting his second and North End's fourth with a superb individual effort right on half-time.
An own goal in the second half completed the tally, with North End secretary John Marchment adding: "I'm afraid that it was men against boys out there today. Sometimes we had just too much time and space."
Second-placed Hayling United kept up the pressure with a 4-1 success at Ludgershall, while winning doubles from Gary Wearne and Jason House plus one by Martin Whittaker saw third-placed Paulsgrove triumph 5-0 at Verwood.
All three goals came in the opening 25 minutes as Micheldever pipped Otterbourne 2-1, a fifth-minute Nick Holmes volley and a John Malone effort wiping out Steve Trott's 25-yard free-kick after 11 minutes.
Alan Fooks marked his Ordnance Survey debut with a goal as they drew 1-1 at RS Basingstoke. A Kevin Wiltshire headed own goal gave the home side a 20th-minute lead which the former Swanage and Blackfield striker cancelled out on the hour mark.
Cellar-dwellers Yateley Green look set to test the patience of the SWL, they couldn't raise a side for their match at AFC Portchester for the second time this season.
