FALLEN autumn leaves could be a safety hazard for Andover residents who aren't signed up to the council's green waste scheme, warn opposition councillors.
Lib Dem councillors say Test Valley Borough Cou-ncil's composting scheme will fail those who can't lawfully put leaves in their wheelie bins.
Cllr Rod Bailey fears pensioners living in urban areas are likely to be hit hardest by the hidden dangers of slippery leaves on footpaths.
"There are people aged 80 and above phoning up the council and being told they can't put leaves in the black bins. They have to transport them to the dump at Shepherds Spring Lane," he said.
Mr Bailey's fellow St Mary's Ward councillor, Robin Hughes, blasted the council for not offering an alternative method of leaf disposal. For the full story see Friday's Andover Advertiser.
